The Baani Centre held its first event in June 2022, to launch its first research papers, focusing on the Maldives’ debt situation, the impact of the pandemic and the closure of China’s borders on Maldivian tourism, and an economic analysis of the Male-Hulhumale Friendship Bridge.

The closed door, off-the-record event was held at Summer Island resort over two days. The research papers were presented to a select group of diplomats, Maldivian government representatives, journalists, and foreign policy experts.
